Almost all sources are located on the main floor in the local history collection at Towanda Public Library. All call numbers begin with LH (for local history).  A printed list of all holdings in the local history collection is available.  We’re sorry, none of the local history books may be checked out.

  • David Craft’s History of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, with illustrations and biographical sketches 1770-1878. This is a reprint by the Bradford County Historical Society in 1992.
  • H.C. Bradsby’s History of Bradford County, Pennsylvania with biographical selections.  Includes historical map,  geology, Indians, missionaries and traders, pioneers, early settlers, schools, newspapers, and histories of seventeen townships in Bradford County.
  • Clement F. Heverly’s History and Geography of Bradford County, Pennsylvania 1615-1924.  Includes illustrations, political parties, campaigns and leaders, origin and history of local names.
  • Melanie Fedorchak’s Images from the Past. This pictorial history was published by the local newspaper, The Daily Review.
  • Clement F. Heverly’s History of the Towandas, 1770-1886, includes the Aborigines, the Pennamites and Yankees, together with biographical sketches and matters of general importance connected with the County Seat.
  • J. Washington Ingham’s A Short History of Asylum Pennsylvania founded in 1793 by the French exiles in Pennsylvania.
  • The Settler, a bimonthly publication of the Bradford County Historical Society.
